Write _reasonable_ code

Sometimes, code can spit something unusual out at you. For example, take Microsoft’s Windows Vista. A screenshot of what I’m talking about is below.
A rather unreasonable estimated file transfer time


If you didn’t notice what was odd about the screenshot, I’ll tell you. The estimated time is way too much. If the estimated time is more than a certain amount, the file transfer dialog should display something like “Calculating…” or “Uncertain.”.Copying a double layer DVD to a hard drive shouldn’t take a hundred years.

Hopefully, if you have read this, you will make some form of sanity-check in your application.
